>> It's the back-to-work Monday morning and my desk has been deluged with an assortment of bits and bobs which I'm MOST egg-cited about.  Parcels and cards arriving post Christmas just means an extension of the holiday which can only be a good thing (I have a sad panda face at the prospect of our tree coming down...). 

My hand nearly fell off today just holding a binliner of trash given how cold it is at the moment but summer came swooping in via workmail to smack me in the face in a manner that is "harder, better,Coach Wallets, faster, stronger" in the true dat words of Daft Punk.  The new Jan/Feb issue of Russh landed on my desk and the cover story, shot by Benny Horne and styled by Stevie Dance has given me much food for thought for how I can carve out my 'surferette-in-the-city' ensembles.  I blame the random pair of neoprene surf shorts I bought on sale in Oak when I was in New York over Halloween.  And Cynthia Rowley's pending contribution to Roxy.  And my general ongoing love affair/sick fascination with the material neoprene.  Actually, I just blame myself.

It's been a while hasn't it Tim Ryan?  Your website is STILL not ready but I'll forgive you because you keep me relatively updated with your knitted fringey goings-on?  Last time when you sent me your A/W 09 collection you had me and some of the readers swaying to Fern Kinney's "Together We Are Beautiful" and then I get your S/S 10 collection (which surely means your A/W 10-11 is also ready soon too... surely too much swaying to take all in one go?) and I've definitely decided that ONCE AGAIN,Gucci Long Wallet, together we are beautiful.  That said,monster beats pro, what with the added element of the neapolitan ice-cream fringe and the flare in the skirt with the added volume, it seems a pity to stay beautiful in a static state.  So I would like to dance all night too... maybe parts of the day too in bright bright sunlight, like the stuff that's flooding into my greenhouse flat right now.  Surely a Glee-style mash-up of the two songs needs to happen?  Together We Are Dancing All Night... in subtly glittery knits, powder pink wrapped heads,Nike Air Max 2011 Womens, neapolitan pastel fringing, frou frou skirts with slightly voluminous hippage and a definite air of lightness that means dancing in a hot and sticky night won't be a problem either.

>> I have a ton of threads to weave about Montreal's fashion scene and I've seen SO MUCH that it's hard to even begin to process a memory card full of photos.  Rest assured, I'll be getting to the nitty gritty on my flight home tonight as opposed to watching the films on fuzzy films and poking the man next to me who will invariably go to sleep with his head drooping off towards my side.  Meanwhile though, I had to get up these pics of the new Heikki Salonen trousers I bought from The Convenicence Store's pop-up space in St Martin's Lane Hotel.  I may also have to go back for more Heikki lovin'.  Like I said his collection has been a slow burner from the time I saw it at Fashion East's show last season and now suddenly bomber jacket sleeved dresses and heavy double faced coats seem like things I can't quite live without...

These trousers that have been panelled with triangular pieces of what I think is forest green raw silk are a start though.  The threadbared fabrication sewn onto a solid surface of back is a twist on the distressed aesthetic that has permeated t-shirts and dresses in permeated years.  As you walk, you can feel the rips slowly deepening but not in a way that means the trousers would loose their structure over time - if anything, the material feels like an 18th century silk frock - I'm hoping for beautiful decay which sounds terribly airy fairy and 'fash' but for now, I have trousers I actually want to clamber into day in day out so there is SOME element of practicality here... again, I fall prey to the 'interesting trew'...

My only line of defence in being able to venture out in the female equivalent of the party shirt, is that I'm not a beer belching man, who's on the mission for a rohypnol-filled night out.  Still, I fully own up to being brutally loud and garish with these reissued Versace print and Louise Gray abstract shirts.  They join a whole rack of 'party shirts' that are terrifyingly unleashed in broad daylight, beyond the dark and dank nightclub.  What's even worse is my propensity to want to layer on print on print on print just to amplify the epilepsy-inducing effect of the party shirt, especially with the Versace barocco print.  The Louise Gray shirt with its flaps and fade in-and-out print effects has slightly more clarity about it.  It is afterall a maximalist take on a basic white shirt.  The short of it is that I had better keep it schtum in the future when scoffing at the concept of the male party shirt and think about my own cacophony of a shirt rail in the wardrobe.
